With a combined 25 years experience with rescue dogs. Gemma and Vikki are very familiar with working with nervous and reactive dogs. We are passionate about creating a calm and safe environment, where every dog can relax and thrive. We take the time to get to know every dog as an individual, using gentle handling, positive reinforcement and enrichments activities to help them feel comfortable and confident. Our goal is for every visit to be a positive experience, helping your dog not only recover physically, but enjoy the process along the way.
At the Complete Canine we support a wide range of dogs at different stages of their life and health, including
Once your veterinary referral form has been completed, you will be able to book your initial consultation.
Your initial consultation will be 90 minutes. Our goal will be to help your dog feel safe and relaxed by giving your dog time to settle into the environment, explore at their own pace, and get used to the therapist. There's no rush, we follow your dogs cues. We observe their posture, movement and once your dog feels comfortable, introduce hands on assessment. This allows the dog to feel more comfortable in future session, making treatments more effective.
We take detailed history of your lovely dog, and will end the session with a therapeutic plan, which may include a home exercise program.
Ongoing treatments are 45minutes long, following a quick review on your dogs progress, your therapist conducts a full treatment tailored to your dog.
Please bring some of your dogs favourite treats. A tube of pate or squeezy cheese can be helpful.
If your dog is coming for Hydrotherapy, please bring some towels and a coat to keep them warm after treatment.
Dogs should not eat 3 hours before their Hydrotherapy treatment and please ensure they have toileted before.
Before your dogs first treatment with us, we require veterinary consent to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate for you pet. We work collaboratively with your veterinary practice and may share relevant clinical information with them.
Most pet insurance companies will cover complementary treatments, which physiotherapy and hydrotherapy come under.
Treatments are usually fully or partially covered, but please check with your own insurance companies before booking to confirm the level of cover.
The Complete Canine do not accept direct payments from insurance companies, payment required in full at the time of treatment and maybe redeemable from your insurer.
The Complete Canine are happy to complete insurance claim forms free of charge.
